ELP Teacher

Purpose Statement

The ELP Teacher will be responsible for implementing a strong Early Learning curriculum at West Bay Christian Academy. This position works with 3 and 4 years old providing developmentally appropriate instruction, while developing their social, emotional, academical, and motor skills.

Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Director of the Early Learning Program.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Planning lessons that engage and motivate students.

  • Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children.

  • Recording and reporting on a student’s progress.

  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.

  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, or colors, etc.)

  • Maintain a portfolio of student’s work.

  • Attend faculty and department meetings, as well as faculty in-service days.

  • Certification in child CPR/First Aid preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

  •  Committed Christian, active in a local church.

  • Bachelors in education required, current RI Teacher certificate preferred.

  • ACSI certification preferred.

  • 1-3 years of prior teaching experience preferred.

  • Committed to a Christian Philosophy of Education.

  • College credits in Biblical studies preferred.

  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool
    educational methods.

  • Able to integrate thematic curriculum with instructional methods.

  • Able to integrate Biblical principles with curriculum, instruction, relationships,
    discipline, and the entire school community.

  • Able to implement diverse methods to address varied student learning styles.

  • Comfortable working in a team environment.

  • Willing to invest in professional growth.
